Ah..the past weekend. My reading plans---all out the window.
I had hoped just to take it easy and do two book reviews and re-read Shadows of the Wind..
But, then, we got the new TV stand.
Because the power grid in New Orleans is not stable, there are constant power glitches. One such event caused the circuit boards on my father's tv to burn. We got a new TV, and a new stand.
I am horrible at putting things together. The instructions were written by someone whose first language doesn't have the alphabet that we use in the Western World. Plus, some sections had to be glued, so I had to make sure that the parts were assembled on the correct side and angles before I glued the dowels to the holes.
It took me 4 hours to finish the job. I was so tired all that I could do was watch mindless TV shows.
On a more positive side, I took the young girl that I tutor and her little brother to a used book sale at the local library on Saturday. The boy wanted dinosaur books, and the girl wanted comic books. (Hey, don't knock comic books; if her interest in reading starts, I don't care how it starts.) The lady who was the cashier assumed that the children were mine and knew that I had gotten laid off from the library after the 'Kane. So, she gave us all the books. We were jumping for joy.
